Environmental Regulations & Compliance

RoHS stands for the “restriction on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment”.

It is a European Directive aiming to control the use of certain hazardous substances in the production of new electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). It is a partner directive to the WEEE Directive (Waste in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) that controls the disposal and recycling of EEE.

RoHS restricts the use of mercury, lead, hexavalent chromium, cadmium and a range of flame retardants notably polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

There are a number of exemptions for the use of the hazardous substances for specific technical uses where alternatives do not presently exist. There are also permissible maximum concentration values which allow for any trace presence.

Garland cables have been manufactured, inspected and tested to ensure compliance to EU Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS) requirement that has not exceeded to contain the following elements in the table below.
